The Physical Environment

Reconfigure the physical environment to encourage creativity by creating places that facilitate informal communication and that can prompt information sharing and new ideas. Locate teams and knowledge sources near each other so they can be utilized.

Although ideas may appear to be spontaneous they are often the result of deep reflection. Create space for quiet reflection and for individual expression.

Some companies that value innovation have turned their offices into galleries utilizing art to stimulate their creativity. Spread white paper on conference tables to encourage doodling and idea diagramming and record nonverbal communication.
