Equality in Stewardship

The fascinating part of this idea is simply that the teams are full of equals. There is no team above another team. There is no person above any other person and so everyone in each team is personally responsible for the success or failure of the company. This accountability gives them a voice. If the failure of the company could be directly attributed to you then it is much more likely that you will speak up and make a recommendation on a change in process that will make things easier, faster and better for the company. This system begs for the creativity of its members to advance the company.

What Happens to the Supervisor?

If we were simply decentralizing we would put a leader in every group and the autocratic system would just shift focus. Decentralization usually means that instead of one patriarch at the top, we now have seven patriarchs running seven decentralized divisions. All we do is push patriarchy down a level. (Stewardship p. 103)

In order for everyone to take accountability for their jobs, the management positions need to disintegrate. It is impossible for me to say that I am responsible for my job if my boss has the authority to tell me what to do. All members of the group assimilate the management position.
